This practical workshop introduces the well-established and powerful Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) techniques that are used to improve product value and achieve cost reductions. VA/VE focuses on defining customer requirements before improving the product design, and ensures a balance of cost competitiveness and customer satisfaction by following a structured and quantifiable process. Throughout the course, case study examples are used to practise the methodology and raise the awareness of best practice.

The VA/VE Methodology
Application of the methodology to a case study product:
- Select and define: where can Value Analysis be successfully applied ?

- Speculation: generate new ideas
- Evaluation: idea sorting and selection
- Action planning and implementation

- Application issues: products (new and existing), processes and systems
