COURSE OVERVIEW

The success of any business or system improvement initiative depends on the successful management of change. This practical workshop will enable delegates to learn and apply a variety of tools for each stage in the change cycle, and operate from a clear understanding of the reactions and resistance to change - and how to deal with these with a proactive management plan.

Creating a Value Stream Map is a powerful method of capturing all the activities required to supply a product or service to the final customer. It is all about understanding the ‘big picture’ and the inter-relationships between the material and information flows within our business. Companies such as Coca Cola and Tesco are famous for mapping their entire supply chain all the way back to raw material supply in order to:

  • Visualise product and process flow

  • Identify value-adding and non-value adding activities

  • See the waste within processes

  • Map the relationship between manual and electronic information flow

  • Form the basis for prioritising a Lean improvement plan

This course will train delegates to create a ‘Current State Map’ and develop this into a ‘Future State Map' by learning the techniques that enable:

  • Process improvement opportunities to be mapped

  • Flow to be created

  • Development and implementation of the Future State vision

  • Use of rapid improvement techniques to achieve quick wins
